Chapter #292 College Relations

College Relations

The relationship between a local SHRM chapter and a local student SHRM chapter is essential.  While students learn the rules and laws needed to work in the Human Resource field, they are not necessarily engaged in the hands-on work that is required of HR professionals.  Local chapters are able to provide opportunities to students by offering programs, networking, recognition, and working with local companies, internship opportunties that allow the student to gain hands-on experience.

EPSHRM is very interested in student success because as students graduate, they will enter the workforce.  Our 2012 College Relations Director, Linda Ball Thomas, PHR, is working very closely with the UTEP-SHRM Chapter and the EPSHRM Board to ensure that future HR professionals are learning and growing.  If you would like to work with Linda at UTEP-SHRM, please contact her at ThomasLB@elpasotexas.gov.
